Goran Škofić

Goran Škofić (1979, Pula, Croatia) explores the position of the individual in a variety of social spheres of contemporary life. Škofić’s works consist of photo and video collage, spatial installations, recorded performance, film and sound elements.

His work is based on extracting various sequences from real life and by placing them into a new context through image manipulation, he offers a surreal situation as a legitimate one. By using technological possibilities and post-production of the image, he explores the relationship between original and its representation. Social control, manipulation, lack of authority, social aspects and absurdities of everyday life are constant topics of his work, often interpreted through a humorous form.

Škofić has exhibited in numerous international festivals, galleries, museums and biennials and he gave various presentations and artist talks in art institutions and in art schools. In 2009, he was the recipient of the Radoslav Putar Award as the best Croatian artist under 35 years of age. He received several fellowships and has been on art residencies in Europe, North and South America.
