CIRCLE / video installation

Technique: Video HQ 4×3, manipulated image
Duration: 0:15 min, loop
2012

  • The video is projected on the floor, the size is 2 m by 1,6 m. It shows a large white surface with a man walking in the clockwise direction, following an imaginary circle. The man was recorded from above and the spectator thus observes him from a superior position. The beamer is mounted on a rotary engine turning counter-clockwise. That way, the figure maintains the position in the space while walking, and gives the impression of moving the projection underneath it. By controlling the movement, the machine places the figure in the position of a marionette.

This video is a continuation of works that deal with control over the individual and society, since the machine that is physically present in the space represents the executioner of control.
